Pace by day of early voting
Running total of in-person early votes for 2026, the 2022 midterm and the 2024 presidential election, lined up by day of early voting. Arkansas votes early Monday through Saturday for two weeks, ending the Monday before Election Day, so each cycle has 13 days.

How we count
Source. The Arkansas Secretary of State's daily early vote and absentee files. Numbers are updated once a day, usually around noon, and cover votes through the previous day.
What counts. In-person early votes, plus absentee ballots the county has accepted. Ballots that are pending, rejected or under review are left out until they're accepted.
Same day comparisons. We line up cycles by day of early voting, not by calendar date. Day 3 of 2026 (October 21) is compared with Day 3 of 2022 (October 26) and Day 3 of 2024 (October 23).
Which year to compare. 2022 is the default because it was the last midterm, like 2026. 2024 was a presidential year with much higher turnout, so 2026 trailing 2024 is expected. Shares of a past year's total are a yardstick, not a forecast.
Registered voters. Percentages use active and inactive registered voters from the October voter file. Arkansas has no same-day registration, so that number doesn't change during early voting.
Modeled fields. Arkansas registration doesn't record race or party. Likely ethnicity and the support score are statistical estimates for each voter, not information voters provided, and they're labeled "Modeled" wherever they appear. Sex is as recorded in the voter file; about 12% of records don't list it.
Late or missing county reports. Some counties send their numbers late or skip a day, and catch up in a later file. A county that looks unusually low may simply not have reported yet. In 2024, Searcy County reported only 5 of the 13 days, and in 2022 Izard, Lafayette, Lee, Logan and Searcy each skipped several days.
Districts. Each early voter is placed in their Congressional, State Senate and State House district using the voter file. For 2022 and 2024, voters who have since left the rolls (5% and 2%) or moved to another county are spread across districts in proportion to their county's other early voters. IDs were checked against names: 99.97% or more agree in every year.
Small numbers. Groups with fewer than 10 voters in an area are not shown on their own.
